We do more than fix immediate problems.
Our advice can be life-saving for the people we help. And with our unique insight into the challenges people face today, we’re able to campaign for changes to make things better for everyone.
Changing lives for individuals
We know that problems don’t happen in isolation and can have severe consequences. Solving them can stop situations from escalating and help people regain control of their finances or other aspects of their lives. After receiving support from us through a difficult time, people often report improvements to their physical health and mental well-being too.
Case study
Cheryl was left with debts following the break-up of her marriage. When she came to us, she was facing bailiff action and was extremely worried and distressed about her situation.
We helped Cheryl apply for a Breathing Space to give her time to work on a debt solution. Our advisers worked with her to conduct a comprehensive financial review to find ways of dealing with her debts, maximise her income and reduce her monthly expenditure. With our help, she was able to progress through a lengthy negotiation with her creditors, secure permanent accommodation, navigate the benefits system and regain control of her finances.
On many occasions Cheryl referred to the impact her debt was having on her mental and physical well-being. She is now able to look forward and plan for her future.
“When things seemed very black, I am now walking towards the light.”

Changing lives for everyone through research and campaigns
We use our clients’ stories and evidence to research and campaign for positive change locally and nationally. By identifying where policies aren’t working or spotting emerging problems early, we can make recommendations to government, regulators and other organisations on how to fix them.
Our recent research and campaigns work has included promoting scams awareness and providing evidence for the national campaign to highlight the impact of the cost of living increase.
